Dakota Exercising

Dakota loves to play sports and exercise. She loves to play every sport, but she has a sport that she loves more than any other. That sport is called soccer. I can tell she loves this sport more than any other, because when I play soccer Dakota gets all excited and tries to join in.
Dogs need exercise in there life so I figure it is good that Dakota loves soccer. ASPCA says that dogs are more athletic than us humans.  ASPCA also says that dogs love when there owner plays with them, and dogs get more energy when they play with someone. I related this to my previous blog post about how Dakota gets excited when she plays with Noah. Playing with someone else can be related to humans as well. Us humans love to exercise or play with another person rather than ourselves.
After realizing that dogs are like humans, because they would rather play with someone  than with themselves I asked myself another question which was why does Dakota love soccer more than any other sport? Jenna Stregowski says that almost every dog has a exercise that dogs love more than any other. For Dakota I think this exercise is Soccer. My hypothesis for why Dakota loves this exercise the most, is that since my sister and I grew up playing soccer Dakota grew up with the sport also. Since she grew up playing soccer she got used to enjoying the sport. She wanted someone to play with and since we were always playing soccer she decided to join in. That is why she now enjoys soccer more than any other sport now. She loves soccer the most, because when my sister and I played soccer with her when we were younger.

My Dog Loves Some People More Than Others

My dog Dakota loves everybody no matter who you are. Even though she loves everyone, she loves some people more than others. I have noticed she gets more excited to see someone that she loves more. The more she loves you the longer she'll run around for. Dakota also follows around the person that she loves the most. She almost begs for those people to give her attention. Dogs are suppose to be really good judges of character says Pet Tip. That they can detect if a person is good or bad. From this i determined that Dakota must just follow the person that she thinks is the nicest.
My dog treats my mom the best out of my whole family. Dakota follows my mom everywhere she goes. Dakota also gets extremely excited when my mom walks through the door. I believe Dakota loves my mom the most, because she is around Dakota the most. Since Dakota see's my mom the most she has become attached to her, and thinks my mom is the nicest person out of everyone.
The rest of my family Dakota gets excited, but not extremely excited. She jumps out of her seat to say hi, and than goes to lay back down. When my mom isn't home Dakota will follow my dad around. If my dad and mom aren't home Dakota will follow my sister around. Lastly my dog will follow me around if nobody is home. I figure this is because I don't interact or play with Dakota as much as the rest of my family.
I believe Dakota loves people who interact with her more. The more you play, interact, and spend time with her the more attached she becomes. She thinks that when you play with her that you are being nice, so the more you play with her the more she trusts and loves you. That is why I think Dakota loves my mom the most. She loves my mom, because my moms always around Dakota and is always playing with her.

The Weather Brings Changes

Dakota is starting to change her actions and habits because of the weather. The first thing that Dakota is changing is that she's starting to grow a thicker fur coat. The reason she is doing this is because it is becoming colder. Her body is adapting to the climate becoming colder. I have also noticed that her personality is starting to change.
Dakota wants to play a lot more, and she has a lot more stamina in the fall and winter. Dakota breathes more heavily in these seasons though. I think that she wants to play more because it helps keep her warm. I compared Dakota to me when I play sports. I feel like it takes a lot longer to get warm from running in the fall and winter compared to running in the spring or summer. This is why Dakota is starting to run a lot more. She wants to keep herself warm so all she does is run around all day.
Another thing that Dakota is starting to change is her eating habits. She doesn't drink that much water outside. She used to drink a big bowl every day. Now she drinks about a fourth of the water outside. To compensate for this she drinks a lot of water inside of my house. She drinks about four times the water she used to drink inside. I compared this to a human and found that this is probably true. Most humans when it is cold drink more water inside during the fall and winter than they do in the spring or summer. Another thing I noticed is that in the summer when I let Dakota in she would rush for the food bowl right away and eat like there's no tomorrow. In the fall she's doesn't eat right when I let her in. She takes her time before she goes to the food bowl. I think she wants to get warm before she eats. I have no idea why she doesn't like to eat while she's cold but she doesn't. My other dog Noah doesn't like to eat right after he gets inside either. I realized that it wasn't just Dakota that doesn't like to eat when she's cold. I realized that it is a normal thing for dogs to not want to eat while they're cold. Dakota's actions and habits are changing because of the season changing. I can't wait to see how else Dakota will change during these upcoming seasons.

Comparing My Dogs

I have two dogs as I have mentioned before. I figured I would compare the two dogs to see their similarities and differences. What I've noticed from Dakota (the dog I'm observing)  is that she is a lot more friendly then my other dog Noah. Noah is the same type of dog as Dakota, and they're relatively the same age. Dakota interacts with people like they gave her some amazing dessert. She wags her tail all around, grabs a toy and tries to play with people, and she always rubs up against people. My other dog isn't anything like that. He doesn't enjoy people at all. My dog Noah is actually scared of people and is a lot more shy. When he sees people he barks and runs in the opposite direction. I tried to figure out why this is. Was it that they had separate personalities that totally differed, or was it something different? I knew that we got both Dakota and Noah from the same place. So I knew that wasn't the answer. The next day I asked my mom, "why do our dogs act so different?" She said that Noah was abused before we got him. She also said that we got Dakota at a much younger age than Noah so she grew up with us unlike Noah. This is when I came to understand why he's scared of other humans and is always shy. Noah is scared that somebody is going to hurt him because of his past, whereas Dakota doesn't know anything better so she's always happy.
I tried to see if i could make Noah less shy and interact with people more like Dakota. Since Noah is always scared I would try to see if he would get excited or happy if I played with him. After about five minutes of getting Noah to be calm and comfortable around me I tried playing with him. He eventually did play tug of war with me, smiled, and wagged his tail when I was petting him. He got excited and wanted to keep playing. I determined that he just has to get comfortable with you before he can act like my other dog. My other dog Dakota grew up being comfortable with people which is why she interacts with everyone.
From the last paragraph I determined that dogs are really smart and things that happened to them in the past can affect how they act in the future, such as how Noah acts around people. This could be why Dakota acts like both a human and a dog. Her experiences have determined her personality and she is intelligent enough to make her own decisions based on those experiences. Every human that is around her loves playing with her and petting her. That is why Dakota loves people, because she knows that it will be another person to play with her.

Keeping Up With My Dog

My dog can also be very boring. After observing her I realized that she gets tired very easily. When I come home after school from soccer practice I noticed that most of the time she's asleep. I decided I would try and figure out why she's always tired by observing her during the day on the weekends. I noticed that during the day she runs a lot.
My dog Dakota loves to interact with my other dog named Noah. Dakota loves to play tug of war with Noah. Dakota and Noah love to play this game that can be described as tag. Dakota will touch Noah and then try to run from him . Noah chases after her with all his speed. When he finally touches her he'll run from her and she'll chase after him. After they've played a lot, they both eventually go to sleep. They get tired at around the time I come back from practice. From this, I found my answer as to why when I come home Dakota is always sleeping. She plays so much during the day that at night when I come home she is exhausted.

Introduction

My dog has a mind of a human and a dog. My dogs name is Dakota, and she is a girl. She really enjoys sleeping on a bed or couch. She takes up the whole bed by laying all spread out. When I first observed this I noticed that she was acting like a human. Most human girls love to take up the whole bed. Another thing I noticed about my dog, is that when I take her on walk she doesn't notice or care about other people or dogs. She ignores them and just keeps doing her thing. I don't even have to keep her on a leash, because she doesn't wander anywhere. She stays by my side and stops when I tell her to stop. Dakota also gets really excited when someone knocks on the door. She jumps up and doesn't bark. Most dogs that I've observed bark when they hear a knock or doorbell. Dakota is completely different. She jumps up all excited, even if there is a stranger at the door. My dog also has an obsession with T.V. Most dogs don't watch it, but my dog does. She loves to watch it especially when there is dogs on it.
My dog also has traits that most dogs have as well. My dog loves to play tug of war and doesn't do much. I have decided that she is a unique kind of dog. She doesn't act just like a human or just like a dog. My dogs name is Dakota, and she has a mind of both a human and a dog.
